Engaging the experts: WSU business students travel to San Diego

Two Wayne State University School of Business students recently returned from San Diego, where they spent four days representing WSU and the ENGAGE International Investment Education Symposium at the annual TD Ameritrade National LINC Conference. Wayne State is one of just 23 universities from across the country that was selected to attend the conference.

WSU finance students Angela Bodinus and Jaison George attended the conference which attracts more than 3,000 registered investment advisors to learn and network with industry leaders and hear speakers including former U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and NBA legend Magic Johnson.

"LINC" stands for Learn, Inspire, Network and Collaborate – the theme and new name for the national conference.

"Many of the professionals here are concerned about the next generation and are eager to hear our insights about the future of the industry. It’s been an incredible experience to learn, collaborate and network with these professionals and I’m inspired to bring back everything I’ve learn to my classmates", said George.

Bodinus, one of the key students involved with planning ENGAGE said, “We’re really excited TD Ameritrade is a partnering with Wayne State and we look forward to building upon these innovate ideas and strategies for the ENGAGE Symposium. We’ve already learned so much about what it takes to run a professional event, and we’re looking forward to a successful future with TD Ameritrade.“

Fred Tomczyk, CEO of TD Ameritrade, is a keynote panelist at the ENGAGE Symposium. Taking place March 26-27, ENGAGE will be the largest student investment conference in 2015. Attracting students from across the country, business professionals are invited to hear from current and future leaders within the industry.
