Detroit Free Press: Ilitch School collaborates to release 2020 Michigan Women's Leadership Report

Women make up more than 50 percent of the U.S. population and control the purse strings in most households. Yet when it comes to business, gender parity remains elusive for female executives who significantly trail their male counterparts in advancing to the CEO suite or onto corporate boards. But more efforts and champions are stepping up. And a new report from Inforum, the professional organization that accelerates careers for women and works to boost talent initiatives for companies, shows some movement. Inforum will release its 2020 Michigan Women’s Leadership Report, which was conducted in collaboration with the Mike Ilitch School of Business at Wayne State University, on Wednesday at its meeting in Dearborn. The report updates the status of female executives at Michigan’s largest publicly traded firms. The report found that women account for 6 percent of CEOs and 21 percent of all directors on corporate boards at 77 of Michigan's largest publicly traded firms. That was up slightly from 2017 when Inforum issued its last report.
