Matthew Roling, executive director of Wayne State University’s Office of Business Innovation and adjunct professor of finance at the Mike Ilitch School of Business, argues that Michiganders can’t afford a long, drawn-out energy transition. Following a meeting with students about a proposed sustainability program to align with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s pledge to make Michigan carbon-neutral by 2050, Roling agrees that sustainability measures must be treated as a more time-sensitive priority.
