Attila Yaprak selected to serve as next historian for Academy of International Business

Mike Ilitch School of Business Professor of Marketing and International Business Attila Yaprak has been selected to serve as the next chair of the history committee for the Academy of International Business (AIB). The chair position comes with the joint title of AIB historian.

Founded in 1959, AIB is the largest and the most prestigious scholarly association in international business in the world with more than 3,000 members on six continents. AIB is the publisher of the Journal of International Business Studies and the Journal of International Business Policy, each widely considered top journals in the fields of international business and international business policy.

In this new role, Yaprak and his committee will be responsible for documenting the AIB’s history, identity and sense of direction.

A member of Wayne State University’s faculty for more than 40 years, Yaprak’s association with the AIB goes back to his days as an undergraduate student at Indiana University in the late 1960s. He has served in many roles within the AIB, including as the organization’s executive secretary in the 1990s, when the AIB’s Secretariat was located in the Mike Ilitch School of Business.

“I feel fortunate to have grown up as a ‘child’ of the AIB and am delighted to accept this nomination to serve as its next historian,” Yaprak said.
