Alumnus and Lear CEO Matt Simoncini to receive Above & Beyond Award
Lear Corp. President and CEO Matthew Simoncini, a 1985 graduate of the Mike Ilitch School of Business, is to be among those honored by the Detroit Public Safety Foundation during the Fourth Annual Above & Beyond Awards Wednesday night at Cobo Center. He will receive the City Change Maker Award for leading the company in making a significant, positive difference in Detroit.
Lear has made investments in the "grand bargain" that helped to restructure the city's financial positions. It also supported renovation of several city parks, recreation programs, a Detroit Public Schools program that has brought paid tutors from East English Village High School to Clark Elementary, and more than a dozen local nonprofits and their work, including the Detroit Public Safety Foundation, and it recently opened a new innovation center in Detroit.
