Aaron Weston earns Deans' Award for high-achieving student athletes

The Wayne State University Department of Athletics honored the Warrior student-athletes who recorded at least a 3.50 grade-point average for the fall 2016 term during its 17th annual Academic Recognition Luncheon held April 20, 2017, at the Mort Harris Recreation and Fitness Center.

Eight Deans' Award winners were also recognized for having the highest cumulative grade-point average among all student-athletes in that particular college. Among them was Aaron Weston of the Mike Ilitch School of Business.

Weston, of Comstock Park, Mich. / Rockford, was a redshirt senior on the football team and is receiving his second consecutive Deans' Award. A double major in accounting and finance, he was selected as the WSU Football Scholar-Athlete Award recipient for the second straight season in December 2016. He has earned a spot on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll (term GPA 3.5+) all nine semesters at WSU, including four 4.00 terms. Weston played in 43 games for the Warriors, catching three touchdown passes as a tight end.

Weston will continue his business education at the Ilitch School as an M.B.A. student.
