What is Marketing?
Marketing is the activity, set of institutions and processes for creating, communicating, delivering and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners and society at large.
Courses within the marketing major provide a solid background in many subjects, including:
- Advertising principles
- International marketing
- Market systems and strategy
- Methods of gathering and analyzing data
- Consumer and organizational buyer behavior

Fall and Winter Business Career Fair
- Annual career fairs held in October and March for all business students and alumni to meet with employers in various functions for internships/co-op positions and full-time employment

- Internships occur during the fall, winter and summer months
- Full-time recruiting occurs during the first three months of the fall and winter semester

Quick Prep Tips for Marketing Students
- Apply for jobs, register for Career, Planning and Placement events, research employers on Handshake
- Attend Meet & Greets, Company Presentations, Career Fair Prep and Mock Interviews
- Attend Ilitch Business career fairs as well as other local events
- Submit resume for review and approval on Handshake or schedule an appointment with a Career, Planning and Placement advisor
- Prepare for upcoming interviews (meet with a Career, Planning and Placement advisor for one-on-one guidance)
- Know your options (research marketing firms and companies hiring for marketing positions)
