Dean's message

We celebrated a construction milestone in June, when crews secured the final piece of steel into the structure of the new Mike Ilitch School of Business building in the District Detroit.

Our partners at Christman-Brinker, the Detroit-based venture that's leading construction, offered our faculty, students and staff a chance to sign the steel beam placed at the topping out ceremony. Many added their names to this piece of Wayne State history. (If you'd like to add yours to a forthcoming part of our new building, there are still naming opportunities available.)

As we prepare for our move to the corner of Woodward and Temple, we are developing programs and courses to better meet the needs of our students and new neighbors. In addition to new graduate degrees in Finance, Big Data and Automotive Supply Chain Management, and certificates in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, our Sport and Entertainment Management program kicks off this fall with newly hired expert Scott Tainsky at the helm. These programs will deepen our connections in the city and open opportunities for our students and alumni to work inside its forward-thinking organizations.

Another way we are expanding our reach is by inviting the business community into our new home. There are several innovative event venues in the blueprints: meeting and conference spaces that include a rooftop terrace and the 260+ seat Lear Auditorium with state-of-the-art AV technology and the ability to showcase full-sized vehicles. There is even a QLine stop directly in front of our building. You can learn more about booking your future event via an online inquiry form

I hope you'll join us in our new space when it opens in 2018. You can keep up with our progress via the live video feed of the construction site. In the meantime, please enjoy this edition of our newsletter.

Sincerely,

Robert Forsythe
