WSU School of Business surpasses $500,000 in scholarships for 2015-16

The Wayne State University School of Business will provide more than $500,000 in scholarship funds to more than 220 new and returning students during the 2015-16 academic year. This is a record amount of private scholarship funding in one academic year for the school, which was established in 1946.

In addition to scholarship funding from the school’s 72 named scholarships, this year’s awards included “top ups” that substantially increased the value of university-level merit scholarships for incoming freshmen and transfer students. The school also offered $1,000 scholarships – and a free laptop – to students who were accepted into the inaugural class of the Warriors Business Community.

With the cost of a college education continuing to climb, private support of scholarships is more important now than ever. Fortunately, according to Dean Robert Forsythe, WSU School of Business donors have stepped up to meet the challenge.

“We’re incredibly fortunate to have such supportive alumni, friends and corporate partners,” said Dean Robert Forsythe. “Through their continued generosity, we are able to provide a world-class education to many students who would not otherwise have access to it.”

Additional scholarship opportunities are offered through the university’s Office of Student Financial Aid along with the Graduate School. In all, Wayne State University offers more than $350 million annually in financial aid and scholarships to its students.
