Wayne State running back perseveres through troubling times with positive attitude

This Observer and Eccentric story features Wayne State University running back and business management major Desmond Martin, who last season racked up 121 yards on just three carries against Ferris State. Two of his runs resulted in 65- and 53-yard sprints. Martin also tacked on a team-best 73-yard run against Hillsdale.

Commenting about his choice to join Wayne State’s football program, Martin said, “Once I made my visit to Wayne State, I knew right away that’s where I was going to go,” he said. “It was close to home and it just felt comfortable. I felt really confident with the coaching staff and what they were building here.” In addition to his gridiron exploits, Martin has achieved in the classroom at Wayne State. He has been named to the Coach’s Honor Roll during three terms.
