UAW Contract Negotions Stall, Leading to Increased Possibility of Strikes

Aug. 17, 2023 ~ United Auto Workers members inch closer to striking Detroit‘s big three automakers amid tense contract negotiations.

UAW President Shawn Fain spoke with union members during a Tuesday Facebook meeting about “slow” negotiations with the automakers, asking members to vote on allowing leaders to authorize a strike ahead of the Sept. 14 expiration date of the union’s contracts. Marick Masters, professor of business at Wayne State University, spoke on 760 WJR‘s “JR Afternoon” about the status of the negotiations.
