PwC and Venture for America to highlight Detroit's entrepreneurial spirit

International accounting and professional services firm PwC and Venture for America are hosting an event on Oct. 8 at the Detroit Institute of Arts to celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit of Detroit.

The event will begin with a networking reception in the DIA’s Crystal Café, followed by a film screening at the Detroit Film Theatre of Generation Startup, a documentary funded by the PwC Charitable Foundation that captures the stories of six recent college graduates in the Venture for America fellowship who put everything on the line to launch Detroit-based startups.

After the screening, there will be a panel discussion titled “How does entrepreneurship play a key role in the revitalization of urban cities?” Panelists include the film’s director Cheryl Miller Houser, CEO of Ignition Media Group, Dennis W. Archer Jr.; Dextina Booker, an engineer at Shinola who is featured in the film; and Founder and CEO of Venture for America, Andrew Yang. The panel will be moderated by PwC Market Managing Partner Ray Telang.
