NABA awards scholarships to five accounting students

Five business students received National Association of Black Accountants scholarships at the organization’s 38th Annual Scholarship Awards Dinner in June.
 

Two of the students received Special Recognition Scholarship Awards:

• Cierra Jones - Richard A. Austin Scholarship - $1,500
• Morgan Moss – Marie Farrell-Donaldson Scholarship - $1,000
 

Three other students received Corporate Scholarship Awards:

• Keirra Williams - Ernst & Young, LLP - $1,000
• Torrey Beasley – PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP - $1,000
• Jasmen Sheffield-Sadler – Plante & Moran, PLLC - $750
 

NABA was founded in 1969 by nine African American accountants in the New York area. Their goal was to establish a national organization that dealt forthrightly and effectively with the many common problems faced by the growing number of African American accounting professionals. NABA’s purpose is to encourage greater participation by African Americans and other minorities in the accounting profession.
