Freshman wins top GLIAC honors

Tyler LaSerra, a Wayne State University freshman management major, was named GLIAC Men's Golf Freshman of the Year and All-GLIAC First Team. His debut season included two individual victories and four other top ten finishes. He carried a stroke average of 73.65 with a low round of 65 at the Motor City Invitational where he finished second. He was named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence team. LaSerra was the GLIAC Golfer of the Week on March 26 following his first career individual victory at the Saginaw Valley State University Invitational where he shot a 107 (70, 37). LaSerra collected another GLIAC Golfer of the Week award on April 22 following his win at the GLIAC Spring Invite where he shot a 143 (71, 72). This is the second time a Wayne State golfer has won the GLIAC Men's Golf Freshman of the Year award.
