Business Student Senate donates time, gifts and money to local Boys and Girls Club

The School of Business Administration Student Senate raised $900 for a local Boys and Girls Club through their second annual “Big Give” holiday initiative. The Boys and Girls Club is an organization that provides youth development programs, sporting activities, events and a safe haven for children from all walks of life.

The Senate set out to raise $800 and raised $600 from the campus community by staffing donation tables in the student center. They raised an additional $300 through the support of School of Business faculty and staff, exceeding their goal.

The donations were used to purchase gifts from wish lists the children provided and to fund a holiday celebration. Senate members presented the gifts, a $150 donation and pizza at this year’s “Big Give” holiday party Saturday, December 12. During their visit they played games and opened gifts with the children.

“The smiles on their faces were all we needed to realize that our efforts were successful,” said Yelena Pliskina, chief operating officer of the Student Senate.
