Area purchasing index falls to lowest level in six months

The Southeast Michigan Purchasing Managers Index slid 5.1 points in February to a level of 52.0, the lowest value in six months. A reading above 50 indicates economic growth. It was the third monthly decline in the last four months. “Index components continue to support an optimistic outlook,” said Timothy Butler, associate professor of global supply chain management in Wayne State University’s Mike Ilitch School of Business, in a press release.
