Americans still like their movie theaters

Movie audiences are steadily growing, and Paul Glantz (B.A. ’80), founder and CEO of Emagine Entertainment and member of the School of Business
Administration’s Board of Visitors, is meeting the movie consumer demand. Glantz, who opened his first theater in 2002, last year announced plans for
an eighth theater.

Among Emagine’s claims to fame are reintroducing liquor to movie theaters, having all-digital projection and being an early adapter of immersive sound.

"The enemy of great is good, and I’m trying to combat that, so we can be great," Glantz said. “Entrepreneurial ownership is more focused on the guest experience. We’re closer to the customers. We better understand their needs. The needs are cleanliness, comfort, a bright picture, a picture in focus, appropriate sound levels.”
