Oakland Press: Milford resident, Ilitch School student wins academic award

Milford resident Casey Simlar was selected as Wayne State’s undergraduate recipient of the prestigious Financial Executives International Academic Award. The graduate student winner was Demetrius Edwards.

Each year, the Financial Executives International Detroit Chapter recognizes one outstanding undergraduate and graduate student in accounting or finance at each university in Southeastern Michigan.

Simlar graduated from Milford High School in 2014 as an AP Scholar and National Honor Society member. He will receive his bachelor’s degree this spring in accounting from Wayne State’s Irvin D. Reid Honors College and will graduate summa cum laude in his class with a grade point average of 3.91. He is simultaneously pursing his master’s degree in accounting.
