Three marketing doctoral students achieve milestones

Three Mike Ilitch School of Business marketing doctoral students for achieved milestones on Thursday, July 27.

Nayyer Naseem successfully defended his dissertation, “Global Brands and Drivers of Consumers’ Purchase Behavior: A Multi-dimensional Perspective.” Nayyer’s dissertation committee was composed of Rick Bagozzi (University of Michigan), Abe Biswas, Sujay Dutta, David Merolla (Sociology) and Attila Yaprak (chair). Nayyer will be beginning his academic career as assistant professor of marketing at Northeastern State University (Oklahoma) this fall. 

Aaron Johnson successfully defended his dissertation, “Star-crossed Consumers: The Effect of Online Rating Scale Length on Product Evaluations.” Aaron’s dissertation committee was composed of Abe Biswas and Sujay Dutta (co-chairs), David Merolla (Sociology), Andrea Tangari and Attila Yaprak. Aaron will be beginning his academic career as assistant professor of marketing at Salisbury University (Maryland) this fall. 

Somak Banerjee successfully defended his dissertation proposal, “The Effect of Drip Pricing on Consumers’ Fairness Perceptions.” Somak’s dissertation committee is composed of Abe Biswas and Sujay Dutta (co-chairs), David Merolla (Sociology), Andrea Tangari and Attila Yaprak. Somak will be holding a Rumble Fellowship during the 2017-2018 academic year and he and his wife Shattarupa are expecting their first child in two weeks.
