Note from the chair
The Department of Management and Information Systems at the Wayne State University Mike Ilitch School of Business, established in 1946, has 65-year tradition of teaching and research excellence in two of the most dynamic and challenging areas of contemporary business.
The times call for rethinking management theories and practice, and developing innovative information systems for enterprise sustainability. Our award-winning faculty brings research and industry expertise to the classroom, providing students with the conceptual and practical knowledge necessary to pursue successful careers in these dynamic fields.

There are approximately 860 students enrolled full- or part-time majoring in our undergraduate programs.
Full-time faculty and experienced practitioners – many of them authors of research published in top academic journals and practitioner publications – engage with students in each of these academic programs. The Department of Management ranked 111 (with seven publications in the eight top management journals) out of 224 rankings assigned to a list of 318 management departments in U.S. and Canadian universities.
We are proud that our programs produce graduates actively recruited by leading companies including Compuware, Ford, GM, Sherwin Williams, State Farm, ThyssenKrupp, NextWave and Dow Chemical as well as by key non-profit and government organizations.
