Note from the chair
Welcome to the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management!
Whether you are interested in marketing or global supply chain management, the department is making major strides in research, educating our students and interacting with industry. The department is served by 14 full-time faculty and a fine set of part-time faculty that together bring years of real-world experience to the classroom.
As of winter 2016, the marketing program consists of some 602 undergraduate students, M.B.A. concentrations in marketing and in international business, and five doctoral students on the marketing Ph.D. track. Marketing undergraduate students have the option of two specializations, marketing management or advertising/marketing communications. Students take required courses in consumer behavior and in marketing research, three electives, and finally the marketing capstone. Marketing students are active in the Wayne State student chapters of the American Advertising Federation and the American Marketing Association.
The global supply chain program serves 527 undergraduate students and the new M.B.A. concentration in supply chain management. SCM students take courses in global SCM, logistics, quality, purchasing, their choice of elective, and the SCM capstone. SCM students are active in the Wayne State’s Student Supply Chain Association.
The department continues to improve and expand our educational offerings and are committed to helping students secure career opportunities in their field. Over the next few semesters we will be offering several new courses and study abroad programs, along with increasingly more activities related to our student associations and career placement.
